Subject: Forgive me if this is not protocol...
Can I suggest a band to book at the Jazz Cafe perhaps? I don't know if this is the proper procedure...
They're called "AKRON/FAMILY", and if that doesn't yield the correct goods, then you can always shoot for another band called "FUTUREBIRDS". 2 quite different styles, but one in the same. GOOD VIBES.
I've been to the Jazz many a time to see Cabinet mostly, and among others, Jackie Greene, Mark Karan, Jam Stampede, etc. and I believe these guys would not only make for a good show, but they would bring such a great crowd... ESPECIALLY Akron/Family.
Okay, enough of my rambling... Thank you for your time, and if you read anything in this email, The Jazz Cafe is one of my favorite venues... Thank you, and ALL involved, right down to the bartenders, for all you do.

First off, Happy New Years Eve, and I really, really appreciate you getting back to me!
I'm sure they would bring a great crowd...
Akron/Family would bring the deadhead crowd, while futurebirds would bring the cabinet/pappy/jerry-grass crowd. Quasi-country. There's pedal steel and boy is it a heartbreaker!
Was even thinking about it this way:
Akron/Family ENCOURAGES taping and if Mr. Keith Litz. got out there with those schoeps and (crossing fingers) even a Soundboard matrix, everyone is happy.
I wouldn't miss EITHER show for the world and I'm sure that there are countless others out there that know about them and will come. Akron/Family is partly from Williamsport as well. Both of them have even had write-ups in Relix, while Akron/Family even had a song featured on one of their compilation CDs. (Let me know if you want an uploaded copy of the song-just throwing that out there) It's a smokin' version of Lovelight from over in the UK.
I am not sure about the taping policy of Futurebirds...
Anyway, I can't thank you enough for getting back to me, I would assume you are a very busy individual ESPECIALLY considering the holidays.
--->I was at the Jazz again last night for the Bog Country Band and to see Pappy.
Would like to say, if you sit down and/or do not shake your money maker during any of those shows with those musicians involved; any incarnation, you MUST be either A.) a fascist (doesn't even deserve to be capitalized!, or B.) a presidential bodyguard.
In those comical terms, with my requested bands, you would have the same results as a night like last night: A good time will be had by all, a great environment, and surely the musicians will not forget such a wonderful diamond in the rough.
ONCE AGAIN, Thank you for carrying Bill Graham's torch, he's smiling down at you. :)
If there is anything I can do in terms of info on the bands or anything, let me know. I have a lot of helpful links.
-Happy New Years Eve,

Dear Thinker,

Hoarfrost

I PUT MY FEET DEEP IN THE TRACKS THAT YOU MADE
WALKED BEHIND YOU OFF INTO THE WOOD
WE'LL KNOW WHERE WHEN WE GET THERE YOU SAID
AND WE BOTH KNEW WE WOULD

HIGH ABOVE LIKE A SPIDER
THE COLORS TURNING BROWN
FREEWAYS PASSING BY US
I TOOK YR HAND AND WE KNELT DOWN

WHEELS PADDLE WHEELS PADDLE MOVEMENT AS WE GO
TREES PASSING TREES PASSING SIGNS ALONG THE ROAD
A VIEW THRU THE TREES TO A COUPLE IN THE SNOW
A VIEW THRU THE TREES TO A COUPLE STANDING IN THE SNOW

SUDDENLY THE TREES WERE FLASHING BY US
CLOUDS REFLECTING FAST ACROSS YOUR EYES
WE TURNED INTO A FROZEN MEADOW
THE WIND THE ONLY SOUND

WE'LL KNOW WHERE WHEN WE GET THERE YOU SAID
WE'LL KNOW WHERE WHEN WE GET THERE YOU SAID

It's true sir, or ma'm.

Rational is good and while we're on the subject, Sunday is for gloves, Monday is for boots, and Friday is naked and selfish.

14 December 2010

Ok, you know who you are

ok, look.... I have so much to write, but nothing comes out right now...why is tht?.....

Part After 2

It's so fun, but it's always so damn cold here!!
Im bundled up in about 30 layers, and when broken down into just how many people and "other" layers went into creating such an atrocious piece of clothing it is ridiculous. Just here I am reaching forward to overcome the gravitational pull created within my sleeves. It might be the souls that are trapped in the very fabric. A bit devilishly nasty.
>IT ALL HAPPENED<
Purples and pinks. The futuristic phosphorescent internals. Sharp; stalactites. Digital signals, another language that I couldn't interpret. Mumbles and squarbles, all muffled. Movement on the other side of the paper thin cell, but more of the same, as far as whatever could see. Captive? Birth? Different stages thereafter, flashbacks, or "flash-forwards" rather, of another life with the same surroundings. Pinks and Purples become Deep Red's and Blue's. Another vocabulary, uncontaminated. Curvy jaw bones; the side of a face? More and more digital noise, still a bit muffled. Retrospect digi-reel. Masses of colors throbbing about, just about coral reef in nature. Swimming to the "top" and then descending back down. I almost have complete control, yet I cannot move. Screeching and somewhat yelling and then LIGHT. The same wish of reliving the effortless days of high school had manifested themselves in the form of this whole other session-beast.
It had happened: Someone/something else's shoes, even though I feel like they were more "house slippers" than anything, revisiting the whole thing. I was supposed to be comfortable I suppose, and I was, however there wasn't here. I had a different family, and now, a second family... Ever been a complete outcast to society? Barricade yrself and block yr ears in a room through WWI and reemerge to that new life. Quite similar.
Cherish Earth. Cherish yourself, as the saying goes: you don't know what you have 'til it's gone.

MAJOR NOTE TO TRAVELER

You NEED to have something, someONE, to guide you. It's nothing that hasn't been said before. It's simply just a way of saying things a different way, such as when you thank Jesus for so many things, but why you never blame him. Yr reminder should serve as what you would like to return to, and it should serve you well.

Remember, when yr in the duldrums and you hear that coughin sound, you need either:
A.) A reminder of who you are
B.) Read A.

It's almost a fLesh start, however, it should only serve as a reminder as you want to come out ahead. You might not have wanted this at all in the beginning, but you end up in the situation. It's the tumbling action from the marshaling of momentum.
Metaphorically, you need something (a tool) or someone (a liberated set of hands) to peel back the thin thin layer that which was bestowed upon you. [Be sure to gather up the remainder.] Don't settle with what you've got as this is not the end. Don't just think "because these are 'circle' and blue, they must be blueberries." No. They're not.

Part 2

SPEEL CHECK AND GRAMMAR CHECK IS "ON"
and the last one was part 1
and some albums that are riddled away in another era that you don't know or refuse to know
the silence
the thoughtlessness of a holiday in the year
and the non-existent warmth

the bus came around 5pm, well, it came awhile back actually, sometime before part 1 I guess. Then there was this big long period of thumbing around paper work and sortin' an' crunchin' numbers. I don't know. so i got on.
so here we go, or i go, because you just wont EVER get it now, considering your vantage.
so there were times when there was worry and often more, (not "confusion" for lack of better ____) and maybe the bus even went back in time for a bit. how delightful, yet for someone of your vantage, once again, have NO idea. It's not an idea, and there was no yanking of a jingle-jangle involved, pure automatic door. Shit, I didn't even have to walk before it, I opened for the door.
so then there was a second of misguidance and off with the right and off with the left.
LO AND BEHOLD we have lift off with first: a fine selecion (speel check is "ON", there is an accent for god's sake) from 1968, on March 17 to be exact, and that's the anniversary of a fine Penn's Peak-er if I may say so.
I think my left (or right if it ever mattered at this point-and I mean EVER) is still lost back there in '68 which would 'splain why the "i ran out of ()<-clone RIGHT OR LEFT" is always in search of the other.
Anyway, back to the ship of fools, er I mean bus:
so then we have ourselves contemplating at this particular point in time,
"where and when and why and who and HOPEFULLY NOT a who.... oohohoho boy"
and all during this time you can imagine
"well well well, he can't be saying all of this out LOUD, what'll the NEIGHBORS think?"
but I almost was... almost...  but along we roll.... and eventually I tried looking out another window of the bus for a bit and that didnt work out so I metaphorically whipt my head around faster than Miles. So there,  i continued suit.
>maybe minutes passing<
In lieu of experimentation, strike a match and that quick another one from '68, but this one is 2 months, 4 days, and 5 minutes down the street. Oh so groovy, yet there was too much analysis.
>maybe minutes passing<
LO AND BEHOLD! (there can be 2! i know, right?!) we have ourselves yet ANOTHER fine selection! (this one is not accented because it's a BIT newer)
1978.
what a fine year and this really proves it. what's that? what day? well well well... a bit of reach-search tips my head towards October 21st, which was coincidentally, ALSO a Saturday.
There was a moment of "you stupid disrespectful American" but not in the way you would ever think. We we're being disrespectful and we needed that shove of different air. It's not so bad. It's actually not bad at all, really. It feels kind of good. I can really get off subject here on this, and I REALLY don't want to get off subject, but you kind of have to really understand this. You have to be open to completely understand, and it's even harder to keep composure; to restrain yrself from yelling like all the other "Americans" surrounding you. I guess this is really what kind of inspired this whole "monologue" if-i-ever-saw-one, but I was sitting there trying to understand their way and it was hard to keep in mind that "their" was still not them, but rather silhouettes of "them". A torch or 11 was passed along for sure, maybe a few got burned, I don't know, it doesn't really matter.
So into this one we go after getting it, and there were moments within moments of inter-inner-ness and collaboration between old and new alike. Even now, i'm living about a half hour, give or take, ahead of it. Well-we'll, put it this way:
If you take this whole bus ride thing, and bracket it, like your contempt, you can combine it with anything you gather and it becomes part of the genetics; think simple algebra; 2(#) and why stop there? so in businessman terms: at that point, you can go back decades and decades and find me, but this is now, and you'll not be so lucky.
If I ever ever found one torch of light, it was the headlights that came in the form of another "LOCOmotive" coming right at me. All I remember was the trading of paint and sparks. On the side, It read, "Sugaree". There was a vortex, and it was getting ripped in all different directions. Intricate webs of globby paint and dripping branches. The first ever [documented] Calm Madness. Oh, So much paint was at stake, quite beautiful, and Here I Was with my cup in hand gathering it all up....

10 December 2010

Prelude

Black sheet covering the skylights
Someone's been painting; or is about to paint
I've been wading in the knee deep collaborations
Trying not to swim while not trying to try
Cool Hand Luke with one finger
This is my brush stroke
While I need more colors, I need not search
Theoretically, the color should already be with the ancients
In the grave not taken to
I've cleaned my brush in the conscious one too many
It's a sink hole up there
It's a headache the size of a roof and missing ivory
There's a song about it and Neil Young once wrote that it was the most beautiful love song ever written
When I get my color, I'll paint myself a horse and buggy and rescue all the warm from the cold (or maybe it's the cold from the warm?)(maybe my horse and buggy will be a herse) and we can uncover those skylights once and for all.

54:12!

I Just nabbed this:

NOTES
This circulates as "Tuesday Night Jam" with: Jerry Garcia, Jorma Kaukonen, Jack Casady, Elvin Bishop, Steve Miller, Mickey Hart, and Will Scarlett. All those names except Will Scarlet are listed on the poster, which says it was a benefit ($1 admission) - but doesn't say what the benefit was for! The poster calls this a "Rock Jam" and says it will be "Heavy". This used to circulate as "Unknown '67 from the Matrix". Jorma was asked and he does remember this.
Setlist:
d1t01 - Jam
d1t02 - Good Shepherd ->
d1t03 - Jam
d2t01 - My Babe ->
d2t02 - My Baby Told Me
d2t03 - Key To The Highway

Track 1 is 54:12 in duration!
It is SMOKIN'....
Go out and find it for yrself and for damn sure you will have a great night tonight. Who needs to go out? Have an ole' 11-12%-er and and let Jack C and Mickey H get the momentum goin' on those strings you'll be slidin' up and down, enjoy that ride.

I have made it a personal goal to find every Tuesday Night Jam that I can, as I already own about 4 from over the years... Trade anyone?

HUNTER SEAMONS TO THE RESCUE!

Thank you Seamons...

Conclusion 3

Trying to teach someone what an analogy is, without using an analogy, is like trying to teach a blind man what a color is.

....bombs away

Bombs away, well I guess I'm back in love again
Hey look out now, round and around we go
This'll bring me ruin, though I suppose it's pleasin
Well I've changed the eyes I gaze in, still she's just another girl
I need more than a trade-in, guess I'll have to change the world

Strike up the band, I believe I'll have this dance
You'll raise that glass again my friends
Oui, d'accord je suis charmant, mais elle est si facile, yeah
Well I've changed the tune I dance to in this gay ole social whirl
But if I get a chance to I might just change the world

And it's just the same old movie, been playin here for years
I could use a chance of scenery, but when I get there I'm still here

Comin soon, hey, another day in paradise
Au theatre presque tu
And they'll be showin it forever
So let them keep parading, give them all batons to twirl
For me the splendor's fading, I'll have to change the world

And it's still the same old movie, and I seen it all before
Hell, one more run through won't outdo me, but I would love to know what for
Yeah what for
I would love to know what for
I would love to know what for

Bombs away, I guess I'm back in love again
Hey look out now round and around we go
Bombs away, I guess I'm back in love again
Oooh, back in love again
Look out I'm back in love again, in love again
In love again
Look out I'm back in love again, in love again...

Letter To Geico

TO GEICO
General Category: Feedback about my experience with GEICO
Specific Category: Comments
State: PA
Comments: I am a member. I do not have my policy number handy,
otherwise, I would provide it. I received in the snail mail today, a
letter telling me how to receive a discount on my insurance by signing
up for homeowners insurance or some other insurance type. I will be
honest, I ripped it up like every other credit card offer. All was fine,
I continued my day. Hours later I check my email and there's the same
letter!
What I am disturbed about is not that I feel ”spammed” at all, however,
what I am disturbed about is that a tree (or 2 or 3 or 4) was wasted on
what could have just been an email. I understand that my experience with
Geico cannot be COMPLETELY customized, but please try to have a green
plan, or a small change. I have all email mail where I can and it's far
and few between that I receive any letter from Geico but I am sure I'm
not the only one this happened to. It adds up.
If there is a way to completely opt out of any type of snail mail from
Geico, save for actual insurance cards, I want to sign up, although I
thought I already had. I will search for a way tonight. Thank you! I
hope this is taken as constructive criticism.
